JAKARTA, Indonesia — The first commercial mission for SpaceX’s Starship and Super Heavy launch system will likely take place in 2021 , a company executive said June 26.  Jonathan Hofeller, SpaceX’s vice president of commercial sales, said the company is in talks with prospective customers for the first commercial launch of that system roughly two years from now.  “We are in discussions with three different customers as we speak right now to be that first mission,” Hofeller said at the APSAT conference here. “Those are all telecom companies.” SpaceX’s Super Heavy booster and Starship upper stage are being designed to launch up to 20 metric tons to geostationary transfer orbit, Hofeller said, or more than 100 metric tons to low Earth orbit . Trump allows US companies to sell products to Huawei

Image
US President Donald Trump has allowed US companies to sell their products to Huawei . Trump states that US is allowing after considering that it's not an issue of national security. Trump administration is considering lifting the trade ban on Huawei. All US companies will be allowed to sell products to Huawei after the trade agreement happens. Huawei will be able to use Google's Android OS and ARM-designed chipsets. After the US issued a ban on Huawei, many US companies were unable to do any business with Huawei , which at the moment is the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world . This also posed risks of incurring losses for these US companies . Therefore, the US government has been pressed to reconsider the trade ban with Huawei. And as expected, the Trump administration seems to have figured out a solution to the problem. Trump said at a press conference that he’s only allowing equipment trade in areas where there’s no security risk

Robots May Put 20 Million People Out Of Jobs By 2030

Image
Thanks to both robotics and AI research, machines are getting better at their jobs everyday, and even learning to do new ones. That's great for the economy and the advancement of humanity in general. Not so much for the people they'll put out of work though. According to new research by Oxford Economics, robots will displace 8.5 percent  of manufacturing jobs around the world over the next decade.  Basically, around 20 million people factory workers and people in similar workplaces will lose their jobs by 2030. The research does say that, because robots take over more menial tasks, it opens up new jobs for the workforce. The problem is, upscaling to a new profession isn't exactly easy, especially since technical support required by these robots involves skilled labour. That's usually expensive to train in.  Because of this, though there'll be newer jobs created as fast as old ones are made redundant, it'll also create an income disparity.

Designer Pierre Yohanes designed the Halbo for eco-minded people who want something compact and electric powered. The front wheel is stationary and the back tail turns, so it’s kind of like riding a motorboat. So you’d like to have a tiny motorcycle. So you’d like to have a fast motorcycle. So you’d like to have a safe motorcycle. I am sorry you cannot have all three! What you’ve got here is a very fast, very dangerous vehicle. It’s called the Halbo, and it’s got a BMW stamp on it. It’s tiny and it’s got a front wheel motor combined with a sphere form rear wheel. The target user for this vehicle is a “vibrant eco-minded young individual.” Speed on! It’s half the size of the “regular high end motorcycle,” and it’s full name is Halb Organismus. Wild enough? Also it’s electric powered. The front wheel is stationary, while the back… tail

Nasa to send 'Dragonfly' drone to Saturn moon 'Titan'

Image
NASA is going to Titan The space agency announced today (June 27) that the next mission in its New Frontiers line of medium-cost missions will be  Dragonfly , a rotorcraft designed to ply the skies of the huge, hazy and potentially life-hosting Saturn moon. If all goes according to plan, Dragonfly will launch in 2026 and land on  Titan  eight years later, NASA officials said. The probe will then spend at least 2.5 years cruising around the 3,200-mile-wide (5,150 kilometers) moon, making two dozen flights that cover a total of about 110 miles (180 km). The 10-foot-long (3 meters) Dragonfly will gather a variety of data at each of its stops. Such work will help scientists learn more about Titan, the only solar system body other than Earth known to  host stable bodies of liquid on its surface .   Titan's surface lakes, rivers and seas aren't composed of water, however: The frigid moon's climate system is based on hydrocarbons, in particular methane and etha
